Opened on February 15, 1992, Foxwoods Resort Casino is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, a federally recognised Native American tribe, on their reservation in Mashantucket, Southeastern Connecticut. Covering an area of 900,000 square feet, Foxwoods is, in fact, the largest resort casino in North America. Foxwoods Casino Resort shares 25% of its slots profits with the state of Connecticut which, in 2021, accounted for just shy of $90 million in tax receipts.
A total of four casino floors, namely the Fox Tower Casino, Grand Pequot Casino, Great Cedar Casino and Rainmaker Casino, feature over 250 gaming tables featuring 22 varieties of table game, including baccarat, blackjack, craps and roulette, as well as less mainstream games. Slots, too, are very much in evidence, with over 3,500 slot machines and video poker machines, suitable for all budgets, distributed among the gaming floors.
Accommodation at Foxwoods Resort Casino is of the highest order, with the AAA Four Diamond Grand Pequot Hotel, for example, offering twenty-three stories of deluxe guest rooms and suites. Away from the excitement of the gaming floors, visitors to Foxwoods Resort Casino have plenty of opportunity for relaxation. The Norwich Spa at Foxwoods, for example, offers soothing treatments, such as massages and facials and, for the more actively minded, a fitness centre decked out with the latest cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
Retail therapy is readily available, not least at the Tangers Outlets at Foxwood, which brings together numerous leading brands, including Calvin Klein, Nike and Gap, under one roof. When you are in need of refreshment, you will find that Foxwoods offers a a wide selection of signature, fine dining and casual restaurants and plenty of bars and lounges if you just want to wet your whistle.
