The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is situated on the northern outskirts of Atlantic City, New Jersey, less than ten minutes’ drive from the the world famous Boardwalk. As a hotel, the Borgata is the largest in New Jersey, with 2,767 guest rooms and suites, ranging in size from 460 square feet, as standard, to 1,500 square feet, all with floor-to-ceiling windows. Non-gaming amenties include a spa which, at 54,000 square feet, is the largest in Atlantic City, indoor and outdoor pool areas, an event centre, a theatre and a selection of world-class restaurants.
The Borgata orginally opened in July, 2003 but, since April, 2022, has been owned by Vici Properties, a real estate investment trust (REIT) that acquired previous owner MGM Growth Properties for $17.2 billion. The Borgata is still run by MGM Resorts International and, according to figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement was the highest-grossing casino in Atlantic City in 2021; it posted a gross operating profit of $174 million, up from $650,000 in 2020.
The colossal 161,000-square-foot is home to over 200 gaming tables, offering a wide range of table games, including baccarat, blackjack, craps, pai gow poker and roulette. Slot players are amply catered for, with over 3,500 slot machines; stakes range from a penny to $500, with a coinless, cashout voucher system that eliminates the need to carry buckets of coins around the casino floor. The Borgata Poker Room is considered the best on the East Coast, offering 21,000 square feet of comfortable, non-smoking space, with over 50 tables in the main room and another 18 in a separate, high limit room. Unsurprisingly, Texas Hold’em is the most popular game, but Pot Limit Omaha, 7 Card Stud and other variations are available.
