Aspiring scribes take note! BYLINES is a free Arts Awards-accredited course facilitated by the editorial team at Bido Lito!.
Want to write about the music, art and culture you love? Bylines takes a group of 16 to 25-year old aspiring writers through the necessary skills required to be a culture writer today.
We also look at the independent media industry, the art of pitching and how Bido Lito! magazine comes to fruition. What’s more, successful participants gain a bronze level arts award on completing the course. If you are interested, sign up to the Bylines mailing list and be alerted to the next applications window.
The application window for the next Bylines writers course is set to open in July with the course starting at the end of the summer. The course offers future writers from a wide range of backgrounds the opportunity to develop their craft with a comprehensive programme of tutorials, one-to-one sessions and assigned tasks.
Over a period of 10 weeks participants will learn key journalistic skills, the best ways of documenting culture, and tools to equip a career in the industry. During the course of the programme participants will gain one-to-one advice on their writing and will have the opportunity to get work published in Bido Lito! magazine.
Applications are encouraged from writers from underrepresented backgrounds from the Liverpool City Region as we are committed to prioritising spaces for persons of colour, those who identify as LGBTQI+, female, disabled and from working-class backgrounds.
Tutorials take place every Wednesday 5pm-7pm via Zoom. Further programme details will be announced soon
The first programme of 2021 follows the winter 2020 edition of Bylines as Bido Lito! looks to connect young people from underrepresented backgrounds with culture and help aspiring scribes to express their experiences of music and the arts.
