Tucked away on a back street in the Ropewalks, Parr Street Studios have been working behind the scenes to capture musical moments for the past quarter of a century. To celebrate their 25th year in operation in style, throughout 2017, the team there invited 25 artists from across the spectrum of Liverpool’s music scene to spend a day in the studio to record a new track. Though the studio is sometimes mentioned in the same breath as some of the larger-than-life artists who’ve recorded there – Coldplay, Rihanna, and most recently Justin Bieber – the 25 Years of Parr Street videos represent a time capsule of the wealth of local talent in and around Liverpool today. Cue BARBEROS – the polyrhythmic noise-fanatics who arrived at the studio with a choir of spandex clad friends in tow to record a one off collaborative version of The Ladius. Watch at your own peril below.
You can check out the rest of the 25 Years of Parr Street Studios videos, including sessions with L100 x No Fakin’, She Drew The Gun and more, here.
