Watching the new video for A World Drained Of Wonder is almost trance-like. A woman stands still amidst busy Bold Street shoppers, a globe spins endlessly, someone flicks through a map, a washing machine turns around and around. Meanwhile, their laid-back repetitive guitar pop takes the listener on a familiar but enticing journey. This summery track is the second single from their upcoming EP, Songs For Vonnegut, which will be released on June 1st via Rooftop Records.
Seatbelts, which is made up of half of Hooton Tennis Club (James Madden and Ryan Murphy) alongside Abi Woods and Alex Quinn, formed in 2017 and Songs For Vonnegut will be their first EP. Somewhat unsurprisingly, their EP is an ode to Kurt Vonnegut and his way of thinking about the world and the human condition in a refreshing, outside-the-box way. The four-track EP was written on lunch breaks and recorded in a bedroom, which contributes to the laid-back appeal of their music.
A World Drained Of Wonder follows the release of the up-beat Hey, Hey Tiger!, which the band love to experiment with when playing live. Their next shows in Liverpool will be at The Shipping Forecast on the 7th June (supporting Boy Azooga) and at La Violette Societa, Studio2 on 31st July.
From Friday, you can listen to the new EP here.
