After scooping up the prestigious Best New Festival gong at the the 2016 UK Festival Awards – and further establishing their legacy with nominations for Best Small Festival and Best Family Festival, and The Grass Roots Festival Award in 2017 – POSITIVE VIBRATION are hotting things up for 2018 with the first wave of acts for their third innings. The festival’s trademark pos vibes will be augmented by a selection of reggae heavyweights – legendary reggae artist, performer and activist Macka B will take to the Baltic Triangle with The Roots Ragga Band, along with Jamaican dancehall pioneer Sister Nancy And Legal Shot Sound System, and dub DJ Adrian Sherwood And Creation Rebel, while resident culture clash expert Don Letts makes a welcome return too.
Elsewhere, Channel One Sound System, Manudigital With Parly B And Bazil, Capital Letters and Dubkasm With Solo Banton are charged with bringing the noise to Positive Vibration, making for a jam-packed weekend. In addition to all this stellar live music line-up – with plenty more acts to be added before the June 2018 event – the festival will host its regular market, creative workshops for the kids and plenty of tasty Caribbean inspired food and drink. Next year’s festival also sees the return of The Art of Reggae Exhibition – a successful collaboration between Positive Vibration and the International Reggae Poster Contest. The exhibition, which supports the Alpha Boys School in Jamaica, will showcase 100 reggae-inspired posters, designed by illustrators and artists from all over the world. A culturally enriching, carefully-curated, family friendly outing such as this is bound to sell out so don’t hesitate to snap up your tickets.
Positive Vibration 2018 takes place on Friday 8th June & Saturday 9th June 2018. Tickets are available via posvibefest.com.
