Liverpool artists MT HALL and GEORGE MAUND worked with musicians from Japan and Manchester for an innovative residency exchange made possible by culture organisations Metal, Samarbeta and Paradise Air.

With the pandemic limiting opportunities for in-person collaborations the creatives took to online to work together and produce pieces which blended beats, field recordings, spoken word and visuals.

The artists involved have reflected on their experiences in a video produced by Metal Liverpool for what is an interesting exploration of creativity in the times of coronavirus.

Interviews with Hall, Maund as well as collaborators DRS and Torus Vil, each in their homes or studios, express the positives and negatives of virtual collaborations, what the artists learned from the experience and their hopes as to how the project may inform future work.
