While current zeitgeist members ANNA CALVI, STELLA DONNELLY and NILÜFER YANYA will be drawing crowds to the newly minted Birkenhead venues of Future Yard Festival, organisers are ensuring there’s a healthy smattering of local talent on the stages. Working with The Hive Youth Zone, the festival is calling out to local young musicians to join fellow Wirralians QUEEN ZEE, BILL NICKSON and FOREST SWORDS on the line-up.
Future Yard Festival, which takes place this August Bank Holiday, is looking for musicians aged 18 or under making amazing original music to play alongside the array of international artists playing the inaugural two day event.
The best of the next generation of new Wirral bands, producers, MCs and music makers will join the line-up as part of the festival’s wider initiative to kickstart a new music infrastructure in Birkenhead.
The festival’s New Noise Project in partnership with The Hive Youth Zone is inviting applications from Wirral-based artists from 26th June. As well as appearing at the festival, successful acts will be invited to a series of workshops and an artist masterclass at the festival.
Artists wishing to enter, should share Future Yard’s ‘I Want To Play Future Yard’ post, tagging @future_yard before 12th July. Make sure you have a link to your music in your bio.
A panel of music industry professionals will select the most exciting acts to play live at our New Noise showcase at Birkenhead’s Bloom Building on 23rd July, with two being selected to perform at Future Yard Festival.
Applicants must be aged 18 or under and either live, work or attended college in Wirral. For bands, at least 50% of the group must meet these criteria.
Artists need to be available to play live at the New Noise showcase on 23rd July, and also for the festival dates, 23rd / 24th August.
