Sound City just keeps upping its game this year. Following last week’s news announcing 100 more acts on the bill, a fresh batch of names have been revealed for the May festivities in the Baltic Triangle.
Joining Sound City+, the conference arm of the festival, are PRETENDERS legend CHRISSIE HYNDE, music industry veteran ANDY MCCLUSKEY and New York-based engineer ERIN TONKON, who counts David Bowie among her credits.
Meanwhile, GWENNO is curating a project which invites the region’s most exciting emerging female talent to join her in an exploration of concepts inspired by a sense of place and people. The brand-new material will be created during a five-day residency as part of Both Sides Now, a pioneering initiative from music charity Brighter Sound.
Elsewhere, a host of panels have been announced for Sound City+ including Getting signed…Who, how and why?; In Association with Distiller TV and SOTN and BPI Presents: Streaming & Playlists Explained.
There’s also a tasty series of showcases and late-night parties confirmed across the whole weekend, including live action from Bella Union, pop-up life drawing and poetry from The Unusual Art Sourcing Company, and even a funk and disco interactive clubnight.
The latest lineup additions join previously confirmed acts including MABEL, SHAME, LOYLE CARNER, CONFIDENCE MAN, TIM BURGESS and TEA STREET BAND.
Sound City takes place over the weekend of 3rd-5th May, 2019.
