Help us explore the themes of bido100! and create the film short which reflects this summer’s programme of activity.
To mark the occasion of reaching 100 editions, Bido Lito! will be taking the opportunity to look forward, asking the following question:
What will Liverpool’s new music and creative culture look like in 2028, in another 100 editions’ time?
As a community what do we foresee; a dystopian, culture-less nightmare or a utopian, Technicolor dream? What will be the key issues and challenges, opportunities and changes we’ll be grappling with in 2028? Through a series of projects, bido100! will explore our fast-paced and unpredictable, tech-laced future and look to learn what we can do differently today to help shape a better creative tomorrow.
At the heart of the programme we will be undertaking three new commissions, across film, music and visual art. These commissions are intended to act as a legacy to bido100!, enduring creative responses to the questions examined within the month-long programme of activity.
As part of our ambition to capture the conversations, perspectives and responses within the wider programme we will be commissioning a film short to coincide with the project. As well as archiving elements of bido100! – from public realm moments to agenda-setting discussions, music events to immersive installations – this commission is intended to provide a local filmmaker with the opportunity to explore the ideas central to the programme, utilising subjects and narratives as they see fit. The final film will be screened following the project at FACT in October 2019.
Interested parties should register an online submission by Friday 19th April outlining their vision for the film. A successful candidate will be notified by the end of April and be awarded a £750 production budget to work with Bido Lito! to produce the film.
The deadline to return this form is Friday 19th April at midnight. The filmmaker whose submission has been successful will be notified by email on 29th April.
The deadline for the final edit of the bido100! film will need to be sent to the Bido Lito! team by Friday 9th August.
