If you need an injection of summery cosmic surf in your life, then look no further than ALI HORN’s debut solo outing. Days Like Today, is the perfect track to ease you into the warmer months; it’s got everything it needs to be a summer staple – big hooks, dreamy refrains and the right amount of weirdness too. We caught up with the Strange Collective guitarist to talk about his solo work and aspirations – you can read our interview here.
Released through Edge Hill’s The Label Recordings, whose illustrious alumni include Heavenly Recordings favourites Hooton Tennis Club and electronic art pop duo St Jude the Obscure, the track has already received airplay on BBC 6Music, with veteran DJ Steve Lamacq raving about its summer festival appeal. The video complements the songs’ warped sunshine aesthetic, taking motifs from seaside holidays and turning them on their heads – with a touch of the Beatles’ cartoonish Yellow Submarine about it.
Days Like Today is out now through The Label Recordings. Bido Lito! Members also get an exclusive download by Ali this month – find out more here.
Ali Horn plays the Friends of Heavenly Stage at Sounds from the Other City Festival in Salford on 30th April. He also plays Liverpool Sound City as part of The Label Presents showcase on 27th May.
