You Do The Math Presents...
TALL SHIPS

++++++++++
What a 12 months these three nautical ne'er do wells from Falmouth have had. From being hotly tipped for great things in late 2011 to headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds/Reading this year as well as a headline show at the prestigious XOYO this coming Autumn, Tall Ships are set to become a rather big thing. If you don't know them yet chances are that by the end of the year they'll be your new favourite band.
Elements of math rock and angular pop have drawn inevitable comparisons to the likes of Battles and Minus The Bear but the band cite the likes of Sigur Rós, Prince and Explosions In The Sky as their musical influences.
Mesmerising to watch, Tall Ships are a must see band, with such energy and deftness you can’t help but be amazed by them. They are fast gaining a well-deserved reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting live bands in the UK right now. Relentlessly touring and slots at a gazillion top festivals this summer have honed the show into a thrilling experience, both aurally and visually as layers of sound and vocals are cleverly and deftly assembled to startling effect.
Recent track Gallop has received big airplay on numerous radio stations as well as getting serious love from across the blogosphere, online and printed press (Pitchfork were the first to stream it) as well as enough superlative laden reviews to fill a (virtual) wheelbarrow.
After blowing Los Campesinos! of the stage in March and playing to a packed out Screenadelica stage at this year's Sound City, Tall Ships return for their first stand alone show.
Definitely one of the hottest bands in the UK at the moment this show looks set to be something rather special as they take to a venue which will soon be much to small to hold their ever growing legion of fans.
PLUS Absolute killer support from:
VASCO DA GAMA
Liverpool's favourite angular math-poppers and their third time with Tall Ships, the next 12 months should see the four piece finally break out of Liverpool and start making wider waves nationally.
