LIVERPOOL
With Saturday night musical entertainment coming from Holy Other / Fort Romeau / Vessel
Deep Hedonia and Liverpool Music Week are proud to be hosting with Detour Jam 3 of the biggest and most talented new names in the UK electronic scene. Headliner Holy Other has already wowed Liverpool audiences supporting Little Dragon, with Getintothis describing his set as a ‘wave upon wave of unsettling, deeply immersive cuts raining down upon us.’ Having released his first record With U on Tri-Angle records, Holy Other is preparing his debut LP Held, which promises to be another fine selection of dark and ambient R+B cuts. His live performances are shrouded in the aether and a fully immersive experience for the audience, leaving a serious impression on those who have seen him.
Another producer from the highly acclaimed Tri-Angle records is Sebastien Gainsborough aka Vessel, who uses House and Techno as a starting point, but ends up far from conventional floor-fillers. Acid sequencers squelch in the background, snares and high hats are obscured and an eerie presence is felt through his eclecticism. Each turn Vessel makes in his productions are a shock to the system and subvert many stereotypes in dance music. Like Holy Other, Vessel’s dark ambience is felt throughout, although more industrial, perhaps an homage to Techno’s birthplace Detroit.
Also paying tribute to classic dance music but with refreshing authenticity is house act Fort Romeau. Mike Norris took house music by surprise by releasing Kingdoms on DIY dance label 100% Silk, an LP packed full of smooth house tracks, ready for both home listening and the dance floor. Fort Romeau will be performing a special DJ set for the night, and will no doubt be bringing lush floor fillers to the proceedings.
Holy Other, Vessel and Fort Romeau is the opening event for Camp and Furnace’s Pårk festival for the August bank holiday weekender. The following day’s music will also be hosted by Deep Hedonia and Liverpool Music Week.
