ALICE ZAWADZKI is a singer, violinist and composer based in London, specialising in Jazz, Folk and various world musics, and has played with many leading musicians in these fields. First introduced to Jazz and Gospel by New Orleans singer Lillian Boutté, she's since performed around the world, at venues and festivals throughout Europe and the Far East, as well as the London Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott's, Manchester Jazz Festival, Vortex and 606 Club. Current projects include her own band, featuring Kit Downes, Alex Roth and Jon Scott, Nightjar - an elecro-acoustic trio with saxophonist Joe Wright and drummer James Maddren, The Moss Project, Sefiroth (who play at the Sephardic Music Festival in NYC 2012), with Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale, and duo projects with pianist Dan Whieldon and Cinematic Orchestra guitarist Stuart McCallum. Alice has many film and television credits, including Disney film African Cats, for which she recorded solo vocals at Abbey Road. She also plays the lead in a film called Tortoise in Love - a romantic comedy written by the Guardian's Guy Browning, which is being released nationally this summer. As a composer, Alice was awarded an Emerging Artists Residency at Cove Park, funded by the Scottish Arts Council, for cross-arts collaboration. Alice studied violin at the Royal Northern College of Music, winning the Hilda Collens Prize, and later gained an MA in Jazz Voice at the Royal Academy of Music, supported by the Musicians Benevolent Fund, where mentors included Norma Winstone, Nia Lynn, Nick Smart and Pete Churchill.
