New additions to this year's Sound City festival
The fifth LIVERPOOL SOUND CITY is now only a couple of months away now, and we're getting pretty restless for it all to get started if truth be told. Excitement is running high as the latest wave of artist announcements to this year's festival have just been released, which we feel would be only just of us to share with you.

DJANGO DJANGO are one of the most notable names to have been added to the 2012 bill. Their recent packed out show at The Shipping Forecast was eagerly awaited, and the quartet will be hoping to deliver a polished angular take on the Beta Band's fizzing modern rock at Sound City. THE WEDDING PRESENT (pictured) will also be rumbling into town, David Gedge leading his band through their ninth album in 25 years. Their particular brand of bittersweet love songs mixed up in a whirlwind of guitars will have many people salivating at the prospect of catching them live.
Aussies THE TEMPER TRAP, now a five-piece, will be looking to slay the UK festivals again this year, as they did in 2010 off the back of their Sweet Disposition single. Their appearance at the festival, in lieu of their second album, will no doubt be a much sought after one. Another sweaty highlight will doubtless come in the form of KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES' infectious, hook-laden rock. LOWER THAN ATLANTIS also come with a fearsome live reputation, the recent signees to Island Records having developed a melodic, grungey edge to their hardcore stylings.
Canadian electronic whizz TIM HECKER will bring a more mellow edge to proceedings, meaning that this year's Sound City will cater to pretty much everyone's tastes. EUGENE MCGUINNESS is no stanger to the city, and will follow up his Miles Kane support dates with a string of shows under his own name, with the hormone-soaked rock of his impending third album tucked in his back pocket. Similarly JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW needs no introducing to the city's gig goers, with two sold out shows over the past 12 months proving the Irishman's charm and stunning vocal delivery will be a surefire hit this year.
One of Liverpool's favourite acts SPACE have also been announced, confirming reunion plans by stepping up to the plate to plough through some of their much-loved Britpop hits, Female Of The Species, Avenging Angels and Neighbourhood.
Many others that will be lighting up this year's festival include THE BIG SLEEP, WILLIS EARL BEAL, STEVEN LANGSTAFF, THE KILL VAN KULLS, WHITE ARROWS, DON BROCO and THUNDERBIRD GERARD. Sound City is also a fantastic platform for local artists, and show its commitment to giving them them the place to showcase the city's diverse musical talents by confirming a whole host of homegrown acts to play at the festival. DAN CROLL, STEALING SHEEP, CAPAC, EX-EASTER ISLAND HEAD and MUGSTAR are among those who will be joining FOREST SWORDS as local representatives at the truly international festival.
It's not all about music though (hell no!): Liverpool Sound City will be delivering a set of panels and discussions at the Sound City Convention in the BT Convention Centre. This year's UK Music Student Awards will be held next door in the ECHO Arena (hosted by Edith Bowman) along with Sound City's inaugural Expo, giving the festival a multi-faceted, rounded appeal.
All these latest acts will join WHITE DENIM, DEATH IN VEGAS, PROFESSOR GREEN, TOY, SLOW CLUB, MYSTERY JETS, Δ (ALT-J) and many more acts to make Liverpool Sound City's fifth birthday celebrations go with a bang. See you at the bar.
Liverpool Sound City 2012 runs over three days, from 17th-19th May. Shows will take place over multiple venues (full venue lineups TBA), and one wristband will gain you access to ALL shows. Buy your wristband through bidolito.co.uk HERE.
