'The only constant in a dream is your own consciousness of it'
When is a gig not a gig? If this collaboration between everisland and Milk:Presents is anything to go by, its when music is just one of the many ways in which you are led through a dream-like passage of events. On 1st September their MOTHLIGHT installation will be unveiled for one night only for just 100 lucky attendees. The idea for the night is both complex and completely shrouded in mystery. Their description of the event makes some oblique references to their ideas, instead of giving any specifics as to what we can expect, and when we met up with everisland to try and illuminate things, it became obvious that they want to keep the exact details of this unique night unknown.
What we have been told so far, though, is that Mothlight will be an event like no other, on which you will follow the unfolding dream of a protagonist in an immersive, multi-roomed experience in Milk:Studios on Bold Street, which will be specifically setup for the evening. The whole event looks to explore the surrealism of reality and replicate the unreal nature of dreams. Not only is the artistic premise of Mothlight sure to make it a truly inspiring event, but there will be an almost uncountable number of genre-pushing electronic artists on hand to bludgeon your ears with some of today's most innovative electronic music.
Announced only yesterday was LABYRINTH EAR, the hugely popular London based duo who craft subtle, affecting dreamscapes completed with ethereal vocals. The evocative duo have already been picked up on by Pitchfork and literally dozens of online music outlets, and look poised to go on to much bigger things. Also making appearances as part of the evening's musical backdrop will be GODWOSH, which, as the eagle eyed amongst you will have noticed, is an anagram of Dogshow. Godwosh promises an entirely new approach from the duo, and Mothlight is one of only two planned chances to see it. There's also a large section of music with an improvised edge; ISOCORE will be showcasing their inventive approach which alters according to their surroundings; ACROBAT, the new side project of Sun Drums' Sam Twidale, will be unveiling his hypnotic ideas; and AFTERNAUT will be altering and tweaking his tracks live to suit the atmosphere of Mothlight. EARL COLLECTIVE will also be ensuring you stay aurally and visually ensnared with their engaging A/V setup, Waxxx resident ABSENSE will be spinning dreamy electronica, and DEEP HEDONIA will also be on hand to make sure that things stay very firmly fixed in another dimension.
Only 100 tickets were made available at Bold Street Coffee for this very special one-off event which is sure to be burnt into the consciousness of those who witness it for many years to come. With over half of those already gone, and the announcement of headliner Labyrinth Ear yesterday sure to encourage the purchasing of many more, you'll be pleased to hear that the Bido Lito! Ticket Shop has 20 tickets available, so you won't even need to peel yourself away from your computer to make sure you don't miss MOTHLIGHT. Priced at £7, you can find them here. Dream on.
