The Garden of Earthly delights
So, the sun is beating down outside and you fancy heading out and soaking it all up; relax, have a few beers, maybe grab some food, and bask in the rays. But where in town can you do this outdoors? Unless you fancy taking your chances in St. Peter's Square with the skateboarders the pickings are pretty slim. Cue the ever-creative folks at The Kazimier, who have conjured up the fabulous summer drinking/dining/dancing space THE KAZIMIER GARDEN, from the midst of a derelict, overgrown space between The Kazimier and Seel Street. And they are inviting you all to come along and join them...
With events planned throughout the summer that range from ride-in movie nights, workshops, dance classes, exhibitions, banquets and full on gigs, the Garden will provide a variety of entertainment that will help us enjoy every last ounce of our summer. You'll be able to choose from a variety of draught ales and ciders from the bar, and the top grub on offer from the kitchen is being provided by the cool cats at MelloMello. It will be open from noon to midnight every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, though the Garden's opening hours are pretty flexible. If it's a scorcher on a Tuesday then you'll more than likely find the Garden's Seel Street gates wide open and welcoming in the afternoon, with one of the venue's many house bands jamming away on the stage. Wander down on a Sunday and you'll be in the midst of their ale sale, where the fine amber nectar on offer gets even cheaper; wander down on a Thursday at lunchtime, hook up to the Wi-fi, and enjoy a relaxed working lunch in the sun. As an idyllic oasis of calm in an otherwise bustling city, the Garden could soon become your own little hideaway.
Our photographer Richard B. popped down to The Kazimier at various stages during and after the build of the Garden, and has compiled this brilliant gallery which lets you see how it was shaped bit by bit to make what it is now. Also contained herein are shots from the wild KRUNK FIESTA party (featuring Wet Nuns amongst others) that heralded the opening of the Garden. Feast your eyes on this Krunk Fiesta video below, taking in the Krunk Band's attempt to get people dancing in the Garden.
With a full programme of events planned in June, July and August there will be plenty to draw you in. But it's recommended that we keep an eye on social networks for latest announcements to the ever-evolving programme, and special workshops or gigs that are arranged at short notice.
